New Program for Small Municipalities Print E-mail
Monday, 05 January 2009
Today’s citizens are growing more technologically savvy and three out of four adults own a personal computer. Small town people are also relying on their computers more and more to gather information. In an effort to stay current, many local municipalities have created websites, a leap into the 21st century that offers citizens access to information that was not as easily obtained in the past.

A website is not enough. Keeping your site current and updated is necessary to keep your citizens informed. A stale website will not draw visits from your citizens. Further, allowing your citizens to subscribe to email newsletters is an inexpensive and simple way to keep them informed. Email newsletters allow you to communicate with your people in a speedy way.

I would like to offer you my services as a Virtual Assistant. I can update your website with fresh information, documents, and events. Further, I can easily set up an email system allowing users in your community to sign up to receive email notices. Email newsletters can be sent about anything you want your citizens to be informed about and can include upcoming meetings, agendas, rate changes, community letters, and event dates for upcoming events. A well informed citizen is an involved citizen.

My offer is simple. For an hourly rate, charged in 15 minute increments, I will update your site with any information you choose, I will maintain an email newsletter subscriber database, and I will send email blasts at your request. Basically, you email the information or document to me and I will post it to your site or send it in an email newsletter. All of this can usually be done within a 48 hour turnaround time. You pay only for work done.

I have experience working in local government having worked for the City Clerk’s office and the Human Resource office at the City of Solana Beach, San Diego County, California. Three years ago my family and I moved to Sac City, Iowa, so that we could enjoy the benefits of small town Iowa. I have three years experience updating the website for the City of Solana Beach and sending email blasts on a regular basis to its citizens.
